Riots break out: Protests at the Super Highway

KARACHI: Two private cars and a water tanker were set on fire by protesters on the Super Highway within Sacchal police remits on Sunday.

Police officials said the area’s residents gathered around the highway and set the vehicles on fire over the construction of a disputed plot. The demonstrators set ablaze tires and threw stones on law enforcers and passing vehicles.

After the incident, law enforcers reached the site to stop the rioters and stationed themselves to make sure construction went smoothly. A case has yet to be registered against unidentified persons.
