The Anti-Terrorism Court has declared 15 accused, including Pakistan Peoples Party’s MNA Nawab Wassan, as absconders in the murder case of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional’s worker, Abdul Wahab Moorejo.
A suspect has also been sent to jail for the killing which took place on the day of elections. A scuffle had taken place between PPP and PML-F at Mumtaz College over allegations of rigging during polling on May 11. Wassan had arrived at the scene and reportedly opened fire, as a result of which Morejo was killed and five others, including party leader and former taluka nazim Khairpur Tahir Imtiaz Phulpoto, were injured. One of the injured, Mudasir Mughal, has reportedly gone blind because of the injuries.
During the proceedings, Inspector Abdul Qudoos Kalwar presented the inquiry report which prepared by the team formed by the IG police and requested the court to transfer the case to civil court. The ATC judge, Syed Saeed Hassan, rejected his request and ordered the police to submit the challan in the court within one hour. Following the court’s directives, the police submitted the charge sheet of the case, registered by Phulpoto, in the court and also produced the only arrested accused, Dilshad Wassan. The court ordered the police to send the accused to jail and declared the remaining 15 accused, including MNA Nawab Wassan, as absconders.
Meanwhile, the police released three inspectors - Shabbir Jamali, Ameen Pathan and Zulfiqar Qureshi - on personal surety. These inspectors were arrested on the charges of helping MNA Nawab Wassan flee from the court after the cancellation of his interim bail.
Abdul Ghaffar Morejo, the brother of deceased, and Phulpoto demanded that the government arrest the accused within three days. They warned that if the arrests were not made, they would protest outside the National Assembly and the Supreme Court. They have also demanded of the chief justice of Pakistan and the interior minister to take notice and bring the accused MNA to justice.

Where is the supreme court suo motto in this case. Since May 11, no concrete steps has been taken to arrest the culprit. Where is our system ?
