Public sector development programme: Rs5.24b for education-related projects

Around Rs2.37 billion allocated for improving country’s HDI for fiscal year 2013-14.

The government has earmarked Rs5.24 billion for Education and Training Division projects in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for fiscal year 2013-14.    


According to the budgetary document issued here on Wednesday, Rs5.24 billion has been allocated for ongoing schemes. Around Rs2.37 billion has been allocated for improving the country’s Human Development Indicators while Rs2.34 billion has been allocated for Establishment and Operation of Basic Education Community Schools.

Around Rs350 million has been allocated for Prime Minister’s Special Initiatives for Hunarmand Pakistan Programme while Rs85.2 million has been allocated for Construction of Hostel Building for 100 persons.

Meanwhile, Rs50 million has been earmarked for President’s Programme for the Care of Highly Qualified Overseas Pakistanis.



Ongoing schemes

For the construction of a grid station at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Sector H-12, Rs200 million has been allocated, while Rs50 million will be provided for the establishment of a NUST Teaching cum Research Hospital and a School of Health Sciences.

Around Rs241 million has been allocated for the Construction of 3 hostel blocks at International Islamic University Islamabad and Development of Infrastructure at the university’s H-10 Campus.

Rs25 million has been earmarked for the construction of an academic block at Air University and Rs130 million for the development of Fatima Jinnah Women University’s (FJWU) Campus-II. Around Rs78 million has been earmarked for the Development of On-Farm Students Research Facilities while Rs72 million for the establishment of Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Arid Agriculture University.

For the provision of infrastructure at the National University of Modern Languages, Rs100 million has been allocated.

Under two new projects, Rs70 million will be spent on construction of a girls’ hostel at FJWU and Rs150 million on strengthening of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology’s Islamabad Campus.
