Gunfight: Constable, suspected robber killed

The perpetrator tried to escape, but was fired at by the police and died.

PESHAWAR: A police constable and a suspected robber were killed in a firefight on Dora Road in the jurisdiction of Bhanamari police station on Wednesday.

A police squad was on routine patrol when they spotted a man armed with a handgun. The police tried to intercept him and asked him to surrender. Instead, the gunman opened fire at the squad, killing Constable Nisar on the spot. The perpetrator tried to escape, but was fired at by the police and died.

He was later identified as Baghi Khan, resident of Bara, Khyber Agency. According to the police, Baghi was a criminal and had been plotting a heist with his accomplices.
