Two killed in firing during panchayat

BUREWALA:

Two men were killed and another injuries in firing by their rivals during a an informal 'panchayat' to resolve enmity between two groups here on Thursday.

the incident occurred in village 401/EB where tensions had been ongoing between the groups over a dispute regarding a government pond in the village.

Local elders had called the council to mediate and resolve the issue peacefully.

However, the meeting turned deadly when members of one group allegedly opened fire shortly after arriving at the place. As a result of the firing, two members of the Arain community, Nadeem Shahid and Zahid, were killed on the spot, while Nisar Ahmed was injured.
