Controlling measles outbreak: Need for research stressed

A crash programme aill be launch to vaccinate children from 6 months to 10 years of age starting June 24, says EDO.

FAISALABAD: Punjab Medical College Principal Zahid Yaseen Hashmi emphasised the need on Tuesday for research to determine the causes of measles. Hashmi also stressed the importance of initiating an effective awareness campaign about preventive measures. Separately, EDO (Health) Dr Abdul Rauf said that a crash programme would be launched to vaccinate children from 6 months to 10 years of age starting June 24. He said that the “micro plan” to vaccinate three million children in the district will last until July 4.
