The health of mother and child has vital importance in establishing a healthy society. This was said by Rawalpindi District Officer for Population Welfare Shireen Sukhan during a two-day training workshop on “Mother and Child Health” in Rawalpindi, according to a press release.

She added that mothers should be aware of their health as well as the health of their children, and if they do not pay attention themselves, the targets would never be achieved.

The district population welfare officer said that growing population is one of the significant problem faced by our country and is one of the root causes of other problems in the society.

“In an environment where population is rapidly growing, it becomes difficult to ensure quality health, education and other facilities of life.

Though the role of the state is important, the cooperation of the people is much needed to control population growth,” Shukhan said, adding that medical facilities, especially preventive measures could also help ensure the health of mother and child.

PWIT Instructor Dr Faiza Rabbani said that the population of Pakistan has crossed 184 million and this increase has caused a burden on resources, ultimately resulting in to creating problems in our society.

Deputy District Population Officer Babar Zaheer informed the participants of the workshop that 66 family welfare centres were working to offer guidance and awareness material alongside medicines and contraceptives.
