
The women’s team remained on top of the point’s table after playing six rounds despite losing its last match to India 50-29 in Ahmedabad yesterday.
Pakistan currently lead with 101.5 points, while India retained second place with 100.5.
The Pakistan Bridge Federation sent three teams to India to play in the open, seniors’ and women events at the BFAME championship.
On day three of the championship, only the women’s team managed to stay among the top two in the round robin stage. So far it has won five out of six matches in the event.
The women are competing against India, Palestine and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, defending champions the Pakistan seniors’ team struggled to maintain their position in the competition. They finished the day in third position with 77.5 points among four teams.
India are leading the seniors’ event with 112.5 points at the end of day three.
Similarly, in the open team event Pakistan lost to India 60-14 in round six. They stood at the bottom of the table among seven countries participating in the championship. They lost to Bangladesh 88-4 in round five.
The event serves as the qualifying round for zone four of the World Bridge Federation and the top two teams from each of the three events will book their places at the Bermuda Bowl World Championship that will take place in Bali in September.
