Environmental concerns: Fishermen take up issues with ADB

KARACHI: Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) held a meeting with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) team at PFF’s offices and discussed their concerns regarding the environmental consequences of a proposed power plant in Jamshoro that is to be developed by the government and the ADB. ADB’s Principal Energy Specialist Energy Divisions, Central and West Asia F Cleo Kawawaki led the team in the meeting to remove concerns raised by PFF regarding the project. The PFF also took up the matter with the Sindh chief minister (CM) and governor.  A letter signed by PFF Chairperson Mohammed Ali Shah urged Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah to insist that the matter be discussed in the Council of Common Interests with recommendations to the Senate of Pakistan.
