LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority sealed a dairy farm and a restaurant in Shahdara on Tuesday, after receiving complaints regarding the unhygienic and substandard food served there.

Three warnings had earlier been sent to the owners of Bismillah Dairy and Ravi Tikka. “After they still did not comply with the authority’s directions, their businesses were sealed for seven days each and fined Rs5,500,” Food Safety Officer Komal Akbar said.

She said the authority had raided the hotel and found bad meat and vegetables in restaurant’s kitchen. The dairy owners had also taken no measures to ensure hygiene. Nor did they have a license to run their businesses, said Akbar. There is no regulation of the quality of milk supplied in the city, residents of the area complained.
