KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court further restrained on Tuesday the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from notifying Ameer Haider Shah Shirazi as the winner of PS-85 till June 12.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s Saussi Palijo, who lost the provincial assembly seat after polling on May 11, had approached the high court to bar the election commission from notifying Shirazi as the winner. She said the notification shouldn’t be issued until votes have been recounted on her request. Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, who headed the bench hearing the case, extended the stay till June 12 after the court was told the ECP had not yet decided the matter.
