FAISALABAD: Divisional Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmad Anjum on Saturday directed the Health Department to seal all ice factories found producing contaminated ice in the district.

Anjum, at a meeting, also directed the department to check the quality of water used to manufacture ice. He said the use of contaminated water could cause an outbreak of diseases like gastroenteritis and cholera.

He said no leniency would be shown in the matter. Any factory found selling ice or cold drinks manufactured using contaminated water will be taken to task, he said. He directed the department to create awareness regarding the risks of consuming contaminated water. Arrangements will also be made in public hospitals, dispensaries and health centres to deal with an emergency situation, he said.
