A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafiq for their alleged role in an attack on SC.
The petitioner, Shahid Orakzai, said that the respondents had been convicted in the SC attack case but had not mentioned it in their nomination papers. He said the respondents were not eligible to contest the election.
The court earlier dismissed another petition by Orakzai against the former federal minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and asked him to approach an election tribunal. Orakzai had said that Nisar’s wife and children were dual nationals and he was not eligible for public office.

A man who has stolen from the national exchequer, is a tax-dodger, a loan defaulter, has ransacked the judicial courts and laundered money deserves to be Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The election commission of Pakistan should have rejected the nomination papers of Mr.Nawaj sheriff when they were filed. After completing the entire election process and while it was at the verge of electing the Prime Minister which is going to be a History, why now to rake up.

Nawaz Sharif should stand disqualified on money laundering charges. This is to do with his helicopter deal in mid 90s. I always wonder about the poor journalistic standards in Pakistan when nobody seems to have pursued this topic. Please investigate and you will find the details.
Shahid Orakzai is right, these criminals must be stopped at whatever cost and courage, there is no denying that all those named in his petition namely Nawaz & Shahbaz Sharif and Khawaja Saad Rafiq had played very dirty role in attacking our SC in November 1997 and made the then CJ Syed Sajjad Ali Shah run for his life.
