ISLAMABAD: The United Nations on Thursday condemned the killing of a polio worker in Peshawar, including recent attacks on polio teams and reaffirmed its commitment to support the people and the government of Pakistan to reach the goal of polio eradication.

“The UN presence in Pakistan condemns in the strongest terms any violence against humanitarian workers and expresses deepest condolences to the families affected,” stated a UN press statement.

The statement also projected that the safety and security of all front-line humanitarian workers was of paramount importance, including the hundreds of thousands of polio workers who work tirelessly to reach every child across the country.
