The actor, who will be seen playing a gangster in the upcoming movie Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again, says that he selects films based on how the audience will perceive it. “I have never thought about my image, I only think about the story. I look at it how the audience would look at it and if they would want to watch the film,” he said.
Talking about his upcoming project, Imran shares how he had to go back in time in order to relate to his character. “I based my character on the heroes of mid ‘80s like Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff,” he said.
Set with a backdrop of the late ‘80s, the launch of the movie refreshed some old memories of the city itself. The event was attended by some big names of the industry including Jeetendra, Poonam Singh and Tusshar Kapoor among others and the cast of the film was dressed the same way as they will be seen in the movie. The event started with actors making some elaborates entrances and some even reading out a few dialogues from the movie.
Director Milan Luthria, who has directed Once Upon in Time in Mumbaai Again, said that he has added a contemporary touch to the film. “For me it was easy to go back [in time] but I had to have a contemporary touch to it otherwise it would have been boring. It has to have modern pace,” he said.
The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre and is expected to release in August this year.
