GUJRAT: Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi on Tuesday visited the families of Saturday’s school bus fire after they refused to meet him at the district council hall and gave them Rs500,000 each. The incident had left 16 children and a woman burn to death. The CM said that apparently the school administration, the driver and the district administration were all to blame for the tragedy. He said a school would be named after the teacher who died trying to save the children. He said she would be nominated for a civil award. Also on Tuesday, the school owner was sent to jail. He told the court hearing the remand request that the school van was in use for three years. He said it had been cleared by the Regional Transport Authority and that he could produce the fitness certificate. He said he was short of words on the tragic accident.
