Polio vaccination teams have been attacked by militants in Karachi, Mardan, Peshawar and other Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa districts in the past.
On December 19, the World Health Organisation and Unicef withdrew field workers owing to security threats. However, polio workers from national health bodies continued to serve despite the danger.

One can only salute these brave, selfless ladies. As if their job isn't tough enough, we have these religious nuts trying to murder them. Pakistan would be far better in hands of women such as these than in hands of men who can only talk strategic depth, Afghanistan endagame, non-state resources and other such bull**.
One suggestion to Express Tribune: Please mention the names of each and every person who has died in this quest to rid Pakistan of polio. They are your true heroes and they must be celebrated. As a media organization, you could maintain a list - someday your country may want to celebrate her true martyrs.
