Extortion: Hospital worker harassed

HYDERABAD: Seven armed men broke into the office of the assistant medical superintendent (AMS) medicines of Civil hospital to demand extortion.

According to AMS medicines Dr Anwar Palari, the attackers beat him and snatched his wallet, mobile and wristwatch. They also fired aerial shots inside the hospital. Palari registered an FIR at the Market police station and nominated Mehmood Chang and six unidentified men.

Extortion and harassment complaints regularly emerge from the hospital as workers of different political parties seek favours from the hospital administration. The medicines section is infamous for pilfering stocks meant for distribution among patients for free or at subsidised rates.
