RAWALPINDI:

More than a month after an unsuccessful attempt to register an FIR at the Pirwadhai Police Station against the alleged murder of their 22-year-old son, Shamim Akhtar and Fazal Hussain are still seeking justice.

Akhtar said her son Rameez Fazal, a salesman at a cloth market, went missing on April 8 after returning from his workplace.

Fazal’s body was then recovered from Nullah Leh near the Pirwadhai cemetery on April 13.

“Since we found his body we have persistently been requesting the police to register an FIR and trace the killers but to no avail” she said.

The condition of Fazal’s body after recovery was enough evidence to confirm that he had been murdered, she added.

Akhtar also alleged that the police had taken a bribe from the killers due to which the former were reluctant to register the FIR.

She appealed to the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the incident and hold a judicial enquiry into the murder.

The police claimed that there were no signs of torture. “The post-mortem report also reveals no evidence of violence. However, we have taken chemical samples of the deceased to confirm whether he was killed or died from natural causes,” said Investigation Officer Rana Akbar.

Akbar said a suspect who had used Fazal’s mobile phone had been arrested.
