KARACHI: Wapda thrashed PMC Athletico Club in a 4-1 victory in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPL) match in Lahore.

Meanwhile,the nine-time national champion Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) drew with Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 0-0 yesterday.

Captain Arif Mehmood maintained his record of scoring in every match as he surged Wapda ahead 1-0 in the 12th minute.

The home team kept Atletico under pressure as midfielder Mehmood Ali scored the second goal of the match eight minutes later.

However, Athletico fought back and midfielder Naveed Mumtaz scored through a header in the 35th minute as Wapda led 2-1 at the interval.

They continued to lead in the second half as Imran Niazi scored the third for Wapda in the 70th minute and just 10 minutes later scored the fourth for his team to seal the victory.

Wapda, who are the top of the table with 13 points, have won four out of five matches and scored 19 goals in total.

KPT have 11 points after four wins and one draw and are placed fourth. PIA, on the other hand, have six points and sit at the eighth position in the 16-team PPL.
