Gearing up: KMC prepares for monsoon

He directed DMC officials to ensure cleanliness of all drainage systems and repair all pumping machinery in advance.

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has made arrangements to accommodate monsoon-affected people in its schools during the upcoming season, said KMC commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, during a meeting with the officials of the District Metropolitan Corporations (DMC), the police, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and Sui Southern Gas Company.

He directed the DMC officials to ensure cleanliness of all drainage systems and repair all pumping machinery in advance.

Khan asked the KESC officials to ensure provision of continuous electricity to pumping stations so that accumulated water could be drained from the roads.

He also directed the municipal services department to make sure that all fire brigade, rescue emergency squad and emergency response centre staff are present.
