FAISALABAD:

Two police constables of the Gojra Saddar police station were arrested on Monday over negligence that allowed a murder suspect to flee from a hospital.

Police had arrested Muhammad Atif, a resident of Chak 315-JB, a few days ago for allegedly killing a man over money.

On Monday, police said, Atif was taken to Allied Hospital after he complained of abdomenal pain.

They said he had not been feeling well since morning. He was first treated at the police station, but then taken to a hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Constables Niaz and Pervaiz escorted him to the hospital.

However, police said, minutes after Atif reached the ward, some paramedics came looking for him. They said he had gone to the washroom, but did not return.

Civil Lines police have arrested the constables and registered a case negligence against them.
