It could be result of internal strife: report

Imran Farooq's murder can be the result of internal strife within the MQM, according to the Guardian.

The murder of MQM convener Dr Imran Farooq can be the result of “internal strife”, London-based newspaper Guardian said on Sunday.

Quoting an unnamed source, the newspaper said Dr Farooq, who had been made inactive in the party after remaining in a prominent party position for quite some time, was planning to join a new party to be launched by former president Pervez Musharraf. Sources said Dr Farooq wanted to end exile and return to Pakistan “to renew participation in active politics”.

The source said of the motive: “It lies within the MQM.” The murder is being investigated by Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism branch because of the political dimension to the killing.

I am asking you why she is still under custody and what is the reason of holding her in custody that long. What is the underlying fear and if there is fear then from whom Okay I agree she is under bereavement and would not want to issue any statement. Why her father-in-law in Karachi come out in open and allay the misgivings in the minds of the public. Why brother in law, who is not in custody, is speaking laurels about the Chief of the MQM. You are right I have seen the pictures of Dr and Mrs Imran Farooq with Altaf Bhai and others in the secretariat. These pictures are from that period when he was in good books of the Bhai and are old pictures. How would you explain when all the Bhais were around big Bhai in order to celebrate the birthday of most celebrated personality this universe has produced and right at that time poor Dr Imran Farooq was knackered from his day's work and returning home rather than being with his mentor.

Media have shown and people have seen Dr. Imran Farooq's family meeting with MQM's leaders, didn't you see? It is known to everyone that Mrs. Shumaila Farooq is in SLY custody you are not the first to break this news. If her Mrs. didn't praise MQM chief does it mean she spoke against him? what do you want to prove? seems you are trying to mold the facts.

Mrs Imran Farooq is still in the protective custody of SY, I suspect. Well yes, She has not come out in favour of the supremo of MQM which means she has not praised Altaf Bhai. This is meaningful. If you didn't mean the same then you should not be afraid. My message was very clear and obvious, those who were blaming MQM itself for the assassination of Dr. Imran Farooq and giving the reason of his assassination that he was going to join APML, should they be ashamed now after President Musharraf have openly denied any such news? The same way, those who are still spreading propaganda should be patient. Definitely, the main culprit will be exposed INSHAALLAH, we need to wait and see the SLY's investigation's results!

I have not mentioned any thing about the sick peoples of 90s and sick allegations as u said, just consider yourself that why the peoples have started to hate some one or some group. need of the time is to support each and every one what ever he thinks or believes to better up the image even though it was wrongly created. only love and sympathy has the power to change hearts of the masses not the force. So have to think collectively as a nation beyond the self created limits, only that way country will flourish as we have very much knowledgeable peoples among us. Regarding assassination of Dr. Sahib, he was very famous among peoples regardless party or any specific group so was but still is very much respectable. why should we all start blaming on each others even though we can not imagine reall causes behind the sad demise which is beyond depth of our thinking power. Peoples here by their comments just tried to mention their point of view so i think there is nothing in it to be furious. If no one has done anything wrong so why to fear and why feel need to explanation and why to slap those who have not agreed with the explanation but the fact is crime is done, the highly respectable and educated politician is assassinated brutally just outside of his residence. so definately their might be some hand behind it, just a street mugger can not commit that level of crime. and the Dr. Sahib himself was a well educated and had a vision could not just start fighting with some one on street infront of his house only to prove strength of his biceps. Another fact Dr. Imran Farooq's Parents are in contact continuously and you may find their videos with MQM Leaders in Karachi after his assassination. It would be more better if you talk on the basis of some evidences and proofs about the differences, in absence of which all your comments wouldn't be of any worth! This particular report or thread about Imran Farooq has generated a tremendous amount of interest. Imran Farooq's murder is under investigation. The investigations are ongoing. The murderer who killed Imran Farooq is still at large. The reports in the press that internal strife within the MQM may have been resposiblw has sent shivers in the spine of Altaf Hussain. No wonde he made a U turn to come out suddenly to support Aafia. Altaf Hussain must be jittery because widow of Imran Farooq has not yet come out of safe custody of Scotland Yard. Initially Farooq Sattar in Karachi made plans of grand burial in Karachi and capitalising out of it. The body of the deceased is still in cold storage. This is puzzling for the public and making Altaf very nervous. If the widow decides to bury Farooq Imran in London and do not issue any statement in favour of Altaf Hussain then it would confirm that there was a serious rift between Altaf and Imran. This will make Altaf very vulnerable. See what happens in next week or so. Until then Altaf will be under severe stress and there may be more raving and ranting from him v

It is ridiculous that MQM is quoting Imran Farooq as the Convenor of co ordination committee. List item- Mrs Imran must be aware of shabby treatment meted out to Imran Farooq before and after he was thrown out of the international secretariat- Mrs Imran Farooq must have taken S Y into confidence. No wonder she has been taken into protective custody by the police. I fail to understand why our prominent journalist are slient from analysing over the issue. Please it is big tragedy come forward and expose the hands behind it. They are still written on there, Why not MQM remove them if it is against their manifesto? Infact that is their Manifesto. Imran Farooq was also killed because he was going against that manifesto.

I do remember Anwar addressing Altaf Bhai as Mr Altaf Hussain when he was getting a grilling from Steve of Hard Talk. This may be due to the fact that he was sitting infront of British white journalist and he would probably think that Altaf Bhai was a Don. These journalists do know that the Mumbai Dons are known as Bhais. This may be one reason he did not want to give an impression to Steve that Altaf was a Don though by all definitions he acts like a Bhai of Mumbai. I am not sure he has been implanted by RAW but he looks different than the other Bhais in the international secretariat and probably the only one who can speak a bit of English. I am not sure he has ever been to Karachi? He will think twice now to appear before a British journalist who could grill him all around. Apparently there is another gentleman who is very close to Bhai and is a legal brain. He is reported to have said that MQM is going to file a law suit against The Guardian. I dare them to do that. Then they have to file a suit against BBC, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and may be the Scotland Yard.

A renowed pakistani urdu columnist, late Mr Irshad Haqqani had interviewed Mr. Anwar in London quite several years ago. Mr Haqqani had also mentioned that some quarters alleged that Mr Anwar was not a pakistani and that he was planted in MQM's london secretariat by Indian intelligence agency RAW. The pakistani authorities also had no record of Mr. Anwar having ever lived in karachi or a muslim migrant from india. Judging from his personal and facial appearance in his BBC Hard talk, he doesn't look like a pakistani. No pakistani follower of mqm will call altaf husain 'Mr Hussain' as mr. anwar did.

He portrays his party representing the whole nation but the realities on the ground are that he represents mohajir community but that also not hundred per cent. He wants to remain in the government come what may. While remaining coalition partner his ministers confine themselves to nine zero. He loves to make speeches from his office on the telephone. Abdul Rahman Khan | 14 years ago | Reply One bad thing here in pakistan is that while investigations were still underway, people pro and against comment on the incident.The investigating agencies do monitor the public reaction and comments and thus the 'vested interests' sometimes succeed in misguiding and diverting the course of investigation. It is in the interest of justice to the aggrieved party to shun comments pro and against one party or the other. We should wait for the outcome of the scotland yard's report. However, we should put some public pressure on the british government though their high commissioner in pakistan not to use any diplomacy on any count to wrap up the report. Whosoever is guilty should be brought in the dock regardless of his position.

The above words of Dr. Imran Farooq qouted by Mr. Murtaza Ali Shah are enough to slap the faces who are blaming MQM this time too! We all know politics is a dirty game. If Altaf loves Imran or Imran loves Altaf then why he was not present at MQM headquarter in London while celebrations of Altaf's birthday was just to start all over the world and all MQM workers were present in every office or headquarter of the world.This really creates suspicions but we should wait for the result of inquiry being conducted by Scotland yard.

Guardian is a paper of Liberal Democrats, part of David Cameron Government, Recently Altaf Hussain reacts strongly against the remarks of David Cameron against Pakistan in India. Scot land yard investigation is always done behind close doors with out mentioning the details to outside world. How in the world things coming out from Scot land yard in Imran Farooq Murder? The Guardian report is just like a report in any report publish in 3rd class paper of urdu, "Sources Inside Pakistan" who are the sources? The paper blame Imran Farooq is about to join the party of Pervez Musharraf which is a joke it self and also rebuffed the claims earlier that Imran Farooq is about to join Behari Qaumi Movement. Murtuza Ali Shah spokes to him just 3 weeks back in london and what Imran Farooq told him about Altaf Hussain is enough to show how much rift was between him and Altaf Hussain. There Should be a proper investigation in this murder, till then why there are conspiracy theories? Why not wait for final outcome?

He had also said that it was not correct that he was not on the same page as the rest of the party. “I can tell you Altaf Hussain still consults me on various issues and I admire his leadership. I have always done that and will always remain committed to the philosophy he taught us. Lets not care much about what media says a lot of times,” Why are we going bias?? If your leader Altaf Hussain really loved or Imraq Farooq loved Altaf then he (Imran Farooq) would not live in recluse and keep himself away from his 'beloved' leader Altaf. These are the defining moments for MQM. There is already a dossier against the activities of MQM with the Scotland Yard. Remember Imran Khan who was the only leader who had courage to stand up against MQM supremo and visit London in the wake of 12th May carnage in Karachi. The Scotland Yard did not take any action saying that Altaf had not committed crime in the UK. The things are different this time. The crime has been committed in the UK and the British agencies are aware of rift between Altaf and Imran. The questioning of those who are in the international secretariat is inevitable.

Kashif | 14 years ago | Reply If we can recall history, will easily establish the motives and links behind this incident as well just to name few: Azeem Tariq, Khalid bin Waleed, Raza Haider all these were active and OLD members of MQM and were killed in suspicious manner.... Controversies are always there but that some ground realities and facts exists to clearly foresee the reasons behind this killing. Challenge for UK would be to manage the legal and political scenario linked to this incident. At the end May Allah have Mercy on our country and those who have lost their lives (due to sincerity) for safe guarding our country Pakistan.
