In a letter written to the election commission late on Wednesday night, the provincial government said given the worsening law and order and tense situation in the constituency, the provincial government cannot facilitate the commission to hold the election.
“Different political parties have diverse version on this issue. We suggest organising an all parties’ conference to evolve the consensus on this issue,” the letter said.
It may be mentioned here that following the report of massive rigging and delay in starting the polls in NA-250, the election commission had announced the re-poll on 43 polling stations.
Jamaat-e-Islami has been demanding re-election in all the constituencies in the city before being joined by the PTI to demand re-polling in Karachi.
Meanwhile, MQM which has been accused in massive rigging has also staged sit in in front of election commission from Tuesday demanding to hold the election in entire NA-250 rather than just 43 polling stations.

It's really sad to see that the Sindh government does not want to give its people a fair chance like promised even after videos and other evidence of rigging was provided. Their loyalties clearly don't lie with the people.

Imagine a situation when rigging and incompetency add to it!!
It is the ECP who has to take decision and not any political party or their governments. There was rampant chantings at NA-250 and we all know who was doing it and now the same party is trying to blackmail the ECP to postpone the elections so it will fit their agenda and divert the attention from other constituencies where some cheating has also taken place. I say the Army should supervise the elections and see to it that there is peace in the area otherwise this party will be responsible for what ever happens.Enough is enough and it is time that the government of Pakistan steps in and backs ECP and the Constitution.
As the Sindh government did such a poor job 1st time round, why is it even involved this time. Accordingly, all aspects of the voting process should exclude the Sindh government.
If Sindh Government cannot hold re-elections due to bad law and order/threats then Sindh Government should not stay in government at the first place. Whats the point of staying in power with no "intentions" to keep Karachi away from trouble???
It is not up to the Sindh Govt. to decide what the view point of the various political parties is, it is its responsibility to follow ECP directives. ECP should take swift action and dismiss, if not initiate criminal proceedings against the Sindh Govt. for disobeying its orders.
No problem. Army and media can conduct free and fair elections.
Unfortunately it is becoming increasingly clear, this election was manipulated....
So Ghous Ali Shah was correct today when he said this caretaker government was a continuation of the old PPP government.
