Even though Khattak had been previously been nominated, the party was split over the matter. A PTI spokesperson in Peshawar also confirmed this.
On Wednesday evening, the matter went to the party chairman Imran Khan for a decision who decisively ruled in the favour of Khattak.
Previously, the main contenders for the slot had been PTI Central General Secretary Khattak and provincial president Asad Qaiser. Supporters of both candidates were lobbying to gain the loyalties of elected PTI MPAs.
“Our support for the CM seat is with Asad Qaiser as he is an ideological activist who worked hard to strengthen the party,” said the PTI Central Deputy Information Secretary and winning candidate from PK-10 constituency, Shah Farman. “He deserves to be the next CM.”
However, sources privy to the matter told The Express Tribune the party is divided over who to nominate, with Provincial General Secretary and winning candidate from PK-2 constituency Shaukat Yousafzai’s group throwing its support behind Khattak.
The PTI had won 35 provincial seats in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

I congratulate PTI to win a lot of seats in KPK. I hope inshallah PTI Govt. will bring all those changes in KPK that we need since decades. That day is not too far when PTI will establish Govt. in center/N.A also. But it's also our responsibility to cooperate with the new PTI govt. as they have to face a lot of challenges in future. So be constructive & hope for the best. Thanks

we wanta ASAD QASIR as next CM of KPK .Becuse he is telinted man.and worked hard for the party .He also won two seats in Kpk PK .35 and NA .13 SO it mean pepole like ASAD QASIR .
IK cannot become CM as he has not fought election on Provencal seat from KPK hence he is not a member of KPK Provencal assembly(only MPA's of that Provence are eligible for this seat). More over he cannot even apply for KPK Provencal assembly seat as his domicile is of Punjab................................but I wish he could.
For many reasons, I think Imran Khan should have become the CM of KPK himself to prove to Pakistan what he can deliver and establish himself as the next "Experienced" candidate for PM. Especially, when Imran Khan always leads by example.
@T Khan: Your link doesn't work. I hope this one does. I had to look a little bit of searching. http://ecp.gov.pk/SData/PA/PK/PK-13-0012/PK-131720121953161FBR.pdf
Neither Parvaiz Khattak or Shah Mehmood Qureshi or Ayla Malik are paying taxes whereas Inamullah Khan Niazi has zero declared income. More details can be found on this forum: http://pkpolitics.com/discuss/topic/tax-returns-of-pti-leaders
I am a sympathizer of PTI but I expect more from this party. Those who don't follow party rules must be ejected.
@jamshed kharian-pak:
Ban all English Schools......no future for scientific education in the province then
Arabic Farsi......please tell me what is Farsi used for? and any other reason of knowing Arabic than understanding the Holy Book
Islamic Dress....what is exactly Islamic dress....shuttle burqas for women?
Dam building....that is decision of federal government..... provinces don't have the resources to do that
Please do a little research....or atleast think out of your bubble.....there exists a world outside it
I am delighted that IK has decided this contentious issue in a true, transparent and democratic way by deciding himself. Why involve the parliamentary party to choose its leader when a lifetime leader can do the job better? IK knows his leaders for two decades and he would continue to know them and decide for them all his life.
Hahaha, This is the New face of PTI, Young Energetic Syed Qaim Ali Shah of KPK.
I am glad that one superman with super powers took care of the democratic selection of leader of the house in KPK. A secret ballot among the parliamentary party of PTI would have been too western democracy like.
I have supported PTI and now its time for PTI to show performance in true sense.
I wish Khattak the best of luck and request PTI supporters to stand behind him. Even though Asad Qaiser is the Provincial President but Khattak is far more experienced and the New KPK CM will have to out perform Shabaz Sharif to show people of Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh that PTI is better than PML-N and this is their only chance.
Now where is the democratic process Imran has been harping on about. If he wanted to set an example right from the onset he would've allowed the 35 elected members to choose the CM instead of giving a decision himself. It's the same old story with a new wrapping unfortunately.
Inter-party politics is common in all major political parties around the world, so nothing is new here. PTI's supporters should look at this in a positive way. Over the time there will be three factions in the party (i.e. left, right and center). One always hope to have the group with moderate views (i.e. center) to have majority in the party.
Whoever is the Chief Minister. PTI better do some great things in KPK. Otherwise the confidence of youth will be devastated.
Best of luck to PTI and PML N. Make Pakistan a better place please!
we trust you IK
The beginning of the end for PTI?
Doesn't PTI have a top level committee to make such decisions, or is it one man rule? So much for breaking away from politics of the past.
Naya Cheif Minister of naya Pukhtonkhowa has not paid a single penny in taxes since joining PTI. Beshak Tabdeeli a chuki he

Khan knows best.
Pervaiz Khattak is the guy who refuses to take protocol and security. Being the politician (and now wazir-e-ala) in the most troublesome province with out security, now that's what we call courage. We wish you Godspeed sir!
Time for IK to show other provinces how you do it PROPERLY! Go Go KPK, Go Go Pakistan!
I believe the PTI Chairman should implement a code within the party, to ensure that party members do not make premature statements, which displays a lack of consensus. There should be one spokesman who speaks for the party.
We have seen enough of such behavior in the past from others, and we expect that PTI should rise above the other parties and do not provide an opportunity to others who are looking for such divisions. Lets learn how party members close ranks and support the leader in other democratic countries such as US and Canada.
