SUKKUR: The Ghotki police registered an FIR against four people, including two policemen, on Monday night for their alleged involvement in beating a man to death.

Mirpur Mathelo SHO Nasir Bullo allegedly raided a cattle market at the Mirpur Mathelo bypass and arrested Rabail Mamdani, who had come from Kandhkot. The SHO reportedly took Rabail to his residence and tortured him to death. Later, Bullo allegedly ordered his body to be taken to the Civil hospital with the explanation that it was found from the outskirts of Mirpur Mathelo.

The doctors at the hospital, however, informed the journalists that a body was left by the police in mysterious condition.

The deceased’s mother, Piyari, came to the city and informed the reporters that Rabail had called her to tell that he has been taken into custody by the police. She alleged that her son was in possession of Rs180,000 to purchase cattle, accusing the police of taking the money when they reportedly arrested her other son, Menhal Mamdani.

On Piyari’s complaint, the police have registered a case against head constable Ghulam Mustafa Soomro, constable Noor Hassan Mirani, Abdul Sattar Sipio and Suhbat Mahar. No arrests have been made as yet.

Ghotki SSP Abdul Salam Shaikh took notice of the incident and appointed Ghotki DSP Mulazim Hussain Talpur as the inquiry officer. Talpur said that he has heard he has been appointed as the inquiry officer but hasn’t received any official letter.  Nisar Bullo could not be contacted for his comments.
