Sunil Narine’s four-wicket haul followed by Jacques Kallis’ responsible 45-ball 41 helped Kolkata Knight Riders defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday.

Chasing 116, Kallis showed tremendous grit to defy the Bangalore bowlers. He led the chase hitting four boundaries during his innings. His patient 41-run knock was timely for Kolkata as Bangalore pacers struck early to dismiss Kolkata openers Manvinder Bisla and Gautam Gambhir.

They were pushed into further trouble when Murali Kartik dismissed Yusuf Pathan with Kolkata reeling at 61 for three in 10.3 overs. Kallis, however, was ably supported by Manoj Tiwary, as the duo steered its team closer to victory.

Earlier, an impressive bowling display by West Indies spin maestro Sunil Narine, who claimed four for 22, helped Kolkata restrict Bangalore to a paltry 115 for nine.
