FAISALABAD: One person sustained serious bullet injuries during an armed scuffle between the supporters of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) in NA-76 constituency Jaranwala.

According to details, the two groups exchange harsh words with each other and later indulged in cross firing. PPP’s Waseem Ahmad, who sustained injuries in the incident, was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ).

An eyewitness claimed that Waseem was trying to convince voters to vote in favour of the PPP candidate. “Some voters complained about Waseem to PML-N supporter Arif Hussain who reached the polling station and exchanged harsh words with him which resulted in the gunfight,” the eyewitness added.

The army personnel were present at the polling station at the time of the incident but the accused managed to escape.
