RAWALPINDI:

Illegal automobile workshops continue to cause noise pollution and traffic jams in residential and cantonment areas in Rawalpindi.

These workshops have become a perpetual source of nuisance for locals. Officials of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board have turned a blind eye to the issue despite complaints by people to ban illegal workshops operating in residential areas.

A string of illegal workshops, have sprung in front of Canteen and Stores Department in Westridge, making it impassable for pedestrians. Female residents also complained about obnoxious remarks from mechanics working at the workshops, whenever they pass in front of them.

Most area and streets of Gawalmandi, Ahata Mithu Khan and Baboo Mohallah have turned into automobile workshops, causing constant noise pollution and disturbance to the area residents.

Local residents have demanded that the authorities shift the illegal workshops to industrial areas.
