SHABQADAR:

A Pakistan Peoples Party worker sustained minor injuries in an explosion at the party’s election office early Monday morning.

An official at the Shabqadar police station said a remote-controlled bomb had been used. The explosives planted by unidentified persons went off near the office of PPP candidate Asadullah Meerzai for PK-22 and NA-8.  “The office was badly damaged in the explosion,” he added.

A BDS official told police three and half kilogrammes of explosives had been used in the explosion. Asadullah’s son Ashraf registered an FIR against unidentified suspects.

“The blast occurred when party workers were busy in finalising arrangements for a corner meeting, which was scheduled for Monday evening. One of the workers received minor injuries and was administered first aid,” Asadullah said.

On April 15, ANP candidate Syed Masoom Shah Bacha for PK-21, along with three other people, was also injured in the same locality in an IED explosion.
