Dr Chohan first sought bail after he was nominated by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in a case registered against K-P health officials for allegedly supplying substandard Hepatitis C vaccines worth Rs250 million to government hospitals.
The ACE also took the then K-P DG Health Dr Muhammad Sharif, former project director Hepatitis C control programme Ghulam Subhani and store keeper Mubarak Shah in custody.
During the hearing on Friday, Ghulam Muhiuddin requested PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan to extend his client’s bail till Monday as the other accused health officials and case records will be produced before the court on the same day.
Separately, the court also issued a show-cause notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate for PK-5, Yaseen Khalil, over accusations of concealing corruption charges against him in the nomination papers.
Khalil was asked to reply after advocate Shahnawaz Khan, counsel for petitioner Zarmat Khan, told the bench Khalil was allegedly involved in corruption while performing duties as the area’s nazim in 2005.
Zarmat said an inquiry had been conducted against Khalil which he had failed to mention to the returning officer. The petition was accepted and Khalil was served a show-cause notice.
