MALAKAND: A delegation from the European Union visited various parts of Buner, Swat and Malakand to inaugurate development schemes. The group was led by Berend De Groot, head of operations of the EU delegation in Islamabad. The EU initiated a four-year economic advancement and community empowerment programme “EU-Peace project” in all the seven districts of the Malakand Division. “We have no words to express our gratitude to the EU for reaching to our far-flung areas. Now we will be able to carry out our social and financial activities with ease, our patients will be able to go to hospitals in time, our children to schools,” said Allam Zeb, a social activist in Battara village in district Buner. The EU in collaboration with the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) initiated two Hyrdro Power stations of 100 Kw and 80 Kw in Badai and Serai villages in Balakot union council, Swat. The villages, however, have no roads and people have to walk seven kilometers or a 4x4 jeep.
