GUJRANWALA: A bridegroom and his friends were beaten up on Sunday night by the bride’s brother at a wedding reception following an argument. The bride’s and the groom’s families reconciled after police arrested 30 people from both sides.

Cantonment police said that after the ceremony the bride was returning with her parents.

The groom, Muhammad Saqib, insisted that she stay back and later go with him in an air-conditioned car instead of a bus hired by the bride’s parents.

Her brothers did not agree and this led to an argument between them and the groom after which they beat him up. When some of the groom’s friends tried to stop them, they were also beaten up. Police were called and arrested 30 people, including the bridegroom. They were later let go after the two families agreed to settle the issue amicably.
