SUKKUR: The Ghotki police arrested 30 suspects on Friday, following the attack on an ASI of Bello Mirpur police station, at a hotel situated on Mirpur Mathelo bypass.

According to the police, ASI Manzoor Jhatiyal was sitting at the hotel when three men opened fire at him.

Jhatiyal was injured and rushed to Rahim Yar Khan hospital in critical condition. The police conducted raids at Bozdar Mohalla, Eid Gah Mohalla and Sohanjro village. DPO Ghotki Saqib Ismail Memon confirmed the arrests but refused to disclose their names.

He added that Jhatiyal had indentified the culprits and that is how they reached their house. But the actual culprits had escaped so they arrested their relatives.

A couple of months ago, a hardened criminal Sanjar Bozdar was killed in a police encounter and, according to Jhatiyal, his relatives are behind the attack.
