Second explosion on railway track within 24 hours

More than two feet of the railway tracks were damaged by a bomb blast near Serthaja railway station on the borders of Khairpur and Naushero Feroze districts, on Monday.


Railway officials and the police rushed to the spot to assess the damage, while a bomb disposal squad was summoned from Sukkur.

Sukkur BDS in-charge, Tahir Malik, said that the time-bomb was a locally manufactured device, weighing approximately one kilogramme. This was the second blast targeting a railway track in Khairpur district during the last 24 hours. A similar explosion had damaged the railway track near Gambat railway station on Sunday night.
