KARACHI:

The Clifton police, aided by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), killed four suspected robbers during an alleged encounter late Saturday night. Two accomplices managed to escape while exchanging fire with police. Weapons, motorcycles, and other stolen items were recovered from the dead suspects.

According to police, the gang was involved in several heinous crimes, including the murder of a security guard in DHA Phase 5 two weeks ago, during which they looted Rs500,000. The same gang was also responsible for the killing of businessman Asif Balwani on June 5. The encounter took place near the Clifton Purana nullah as police, led by SHO Clifton and supported by CTD officials, conducted a targeted operation. The bodies of the slain robbers were shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.

The suspects were identified as: Abdul Sattar, 34, son of Maula Bakhsh; Srichand, 32, son of Mir Chand; Raj Kumar, 38, son of Bishomal; Nawab Ahmed, 33, son of Sachal Solangi. Two accomplices managed to flee the scene under the cover of gunfire. Police recovered four pistols, ammunition, cash, mobile phones, and two motorcycles from the site.

Preliminary investigations reveal the gang was involved in a string of robberies across Karachi, targeting areas such as Clifton, Darakhshan, Boat Basin, Sahil, Frere, and Korangi Industrial Area.

They were linked to over 56 criminal cases across Sindh, with additional evidence suggesting possible involvement in terrorist activities, which is now under investigation. Police confirmed that the suspects were among the most wanted criminals in the province.
