Army finalises deployment plan for election day

RAWALPINDI: A special corps commanders’ conference on Monday finalised a deployment plan for troops on election day.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the conference was focused on the provision of security on May 11.

Chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, all issues regarding the deployment of troops on polling day were discussed and a deployment plan was finalised.

Operation in Balochistan

The Army and paramilitary Frontier Corps also launched a 15-day operation in Balochistan on Sunday to ensure the elections are held in a safe and peaceful atmosphere.

On Friday, during a meeting at the Election Commission of Pakistan, it was agreed that the provincial administrations and local commanders are to decide if and where to deploy the armed forces on polling day.

@Mustafa Army will come to karachi when requested by either provincial govt or federal! I dont think either have requested yet.
