Election camps: Noise, slogans causing public nuisance

The residents have demanded that the authorities take note of the issue and enforce the ECP’s code of conduct.

ISLAMABAD: Election camps set up by different political parties in residential areas of the federal capital are becoming public nuisance due to noise, slogans and music that continuously reverberate in the air. Furqan Ahmed, a resident of Sector G-10, said that the camps have been set up in different streets and markets without prior permission from the authorities. He said that due to noise from songs and sloganeering, which continue till late at night, children, students and the elderly face problems and cannot sleep. Another resident, Aalia Malik, said that it has become impossible for women to pass through the streets due to huge gatherings of political workers. The residents have demanded that the authorities take note of the issue and enforce the Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct. When contacted, a Capital Development Authority official claimed that they have already taken action and removed election camps from residential areas and green belts.
