Election Security: Training of police officers begins

The master trainers will train 5,816 police officials whose job will be to ensure security on the polling day.

LAHORE: Forty instructors trained by foreign experts have begun training police officers who will serve on election duty, said a press release from Punjab Police on Saturday.

The master trainers, who include six women, will train 5,816 police officials whose job will be to ensure that polling day passes off peacefully and that polling stations remain secure on May 11. On the instructions of IG Aftab Sultan, the master trainers have been dispatched to each district to conduct training sessions under the supervision of district police officers.

Ten per cent of the trainees are women. All deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) have also been instructed to attend the training sessions.
