FAISALABAD:

Three people, including a child, were injured on Wednesday when a gas cylinder exploded due to gas leak.

Dijkot police said the blast occurred at Fauji Hasan’s shop in Old Grain Market. They said on Wednesday morning, when Hasan opened the shutter of the shop, a cylinder exploded. Several other cylinders also exploded.

Hasan and two passers-by, Raja Aziz and eight-year-old Haider, were injured. They were taken to a hospital, where hospital authories said they were reported to be out of danger.

Witnesses said many residents of the area came out of their homes in panic. They said windows of the adjacent shops were also broken by the explosion.

Station House Officer Inspector Mansoor Bilal said the police were collecting evidence from the site. Strict action, they said, would be taken against the shopkeeper if the incident proved to have occurred due to his negligence.
