Given his successful escape from arrest, most tweets were critical of the one-time dictator, and jokes flew in fast and heavy.
Some of the top tweets are below:

U bet! "@filter_c: To give Pervez Musharraf some credit, at least he had an exit strategy this time around. Unlike Kargil."

Musharaf should face courts of law. He is a usurper of power, responsible for the deaths of scores of innocent Pakistanis in Karachi and other parts of Pakistan. He imprisoned judges in their homes without any mercy or relaxation of the conditions of confinement for their families, young or old, in good health or sick.
Its a suprize how many mush supporters we have here. Do you people even know how he came into power? He was a dictator, a userper and a traiter acc to article 6. What he did later is also interesting. The way he sold people in exchange for dollors, afia siddiqi and Lal masjid episode? How can you forget all that? Just because PPP is bad doesnt make him good.
Musharraf is a celeb, and he is getting this treatment. Shame hai. Look at an actor celeb in the neighbouring country who got one month extension to remain out of jail. Musharraf should have appointed a lawyer who could get the judgement of his choice. Simple trick yaar, convince the judge, and learn the tricks of the trade. When Musharraf was in power,he should have thought of setting up of two judicial system - one for the celebs, and the other for the ordinary folks. Kisne kaha - Kanoon sab ke liye barabar hota hai. The judiciary is out to take its revenge on you. Had he set up two judicial systems, yeh sab hota hei nahin tha. Learn from your neighbouring nation. Musharraf should have told the court that saving Pakistan is a humanitarian cause, and he should be given relief, as it happened in the actor celeb case in your neighbour nation. Musharraf is rich and powerful, but then why this treatment, unlike the actor celeb. Sochna chhahiye, debate hona chahiye law colleges mein. .
Long Live Musharraf..You are a real hero.. I respect you even more than before...
The only lighter side to this episode is the Jaundiced Media / Press coverage. There was no running away from anything.
@Kulwant Singh: " Yes,he must be treated as Ex_President not a fugitive."
That is why he has been house arrested . ( not sent to prison). I do not see any thing happening to him. there will be token punishment and nothing more. The case may be delayed till middle of May ..Only thing which surprises is the silence of Military. After the formation of coalition regime( appears to be a hung parliament) Musharraf will be a free man devoid of much support. Nawaj Shariff ( expected to be a major force in coalition) as well as right wing both are against him. The choice left before to him shall be self exile (in absence of moral support from Military)
This is just being done to build the perception against Musharraf. Showing things like him "holding his head" at all times in pictures and re-running the clips of him "running away from the courtroom in a hurry" and printing articles like these is just to humiliate him but what is really happening is that the army - who used to be the most respected establishment in the country - is turning into a laughingstock....Shame on us
@Faisal Khan: do not disrespect courts . musharaf will get bail, inshaALLAH
Those who blame Musharraf for the Coup or usurping power , are sadly mistaken. They should remember that he was airborne , when Nawaz appointed another CAS of his clan and ordered the aircraft not to land in Pakistan. The plane landed at Karachi with only fumes in its tanks. Life of all souls on board were put to grave risk. What would you do if your life is at stake.
At least he is better than Zard Aree, Gillanis, Rajas of Gujjar Khan and Mians of Raiwind sharif.
Does Pakistan's constitution worth any thing to any Pakistani, I see so many comments supporting him like the he has upheld the laws of the land. It is a shameful day for Pakistan and specially for Musharraf who did not obey the law and the decision of the high court and established a precedence for the future generations that Pakistani laws are only meant for the masses and not the elite class of Pakistan. If these people show no respect to the laws or the courts then don't rejoice because Pakistan is already considered around the world as a lawless country and it will become even more lawless when the elite trashes the laws day in and day out. Believe me this lawless country will bite you some day.
In the military staff college he learnt about the tactics of the Brit General Montgomery; on the cnn comedian programs he learned about the satirical jokes from John Stewart. It is time that he learns what the Generals do in times that he is facing today. Someone should tell him about the last days of Field Marshal Rommel.

Catch me, if you can!
@Faisal Khan: He is an honest man that is why his farmhouse is almost as big as Islamabad. He also came to the country without fear that is why he delayed his arrival and waited for the Govt. to end its tenure. And yes he is courageous as he did not run from the court at all.
About his services for the country, he was the most powerful person in PK for more than a decade even a layman can do better than him with all the power and ten years time frame. We just forget too soon and that is why we vote for the same people.
Musharraf is the best. The decision is quite biased. Those making fun of this brave man should shame as he served the country better than any other leader else. Media is also biased.
Surprising to see some people supporting a dictator who illegally imposed himself on the nation through the gun. Regardless of whether he did some good during his 8 years as the ruler or not, he did break the law and should pay for that. It should be as simple as that.
As for people condemning the judiciary, I find it a bit hypocritical on their part as I am sure they would be the same people who were all praise for the independent judiciary when the judiciary gave decisions against civilian leadership.
Please people, grow a bit and say no to dictatorship once and for all.
Mush supporters, he was not a legitimate President. He came to power through the backdoor. He is a usurper. That alone should be sufficient grounds for making an example of him in any civilized society. He still thinks he is above the law. Time for him to pay for all his crimes.
Typical media manipulation as usual. Musharraf wont be arrested; the army will see to that. And they better protect him; coz he was the best we ever had. Dont believe me? Compare "democractic" 2013 versus Musharraf's 2008?
A person is sitting in his farm house, he walked out of the court, did not run, how in the world can you define he is on the run or fled the court....What a bias media and judiciary, we have already seen the mockery they have made of the whole election process by allowing every corrupt tom, "nawaz" and harry to participate whether they have loans or jali degrees.
Nazakaat of Urdu ++++++++++++++ Parvaaz Musharraf
@Faisal Khan: Yes,he must be treated as Ex_President not a fugitive.
Shame on the media for making fun. At least you could have shown all the sides tweets that would tell the true story that most people are with Musharraf. He did not escape, but went to his house since the police did not follow the orders of arrest. Besides, he will likely be under house arrest. Mind you, he will come out stronger than ever as Pakistanis are seeing the true face of some judges.
Musharraf turned out to be besharaf. Unashamedly runs to his farm house.
yes i am also with him may ALLAH be with him
I am with you Musharraf
I truly respect musharraf. may god be with him. Certainly hes the best from the politicians we have. Other parties are just kingdoms, father to son ruling. I pray for musharraf to come back strong in this situation..
this actually cracked me up.... :)! A boring day at work took a nice turn.. thanks for the tweets guys!!
Hillarious
I still respect him . he was better in lot of politicians we had in past .
In my view all the trails against Musharraf should be started after the general elections 2013 so that Musharraf can do his campaign freely. Now the situation is very worse i think Mushrraf consultants should make some concrete steps to overcome this situation
**Astonished to see so many Anti-Mush conundrums, not to forget to at least read the full details before tweeting or re-tweeting. Not-to-forget that the same NRO passed Chief Justice, proclaim to have legal Chair of his office.
The Conundrum is to pass judgments based on non-biased attitude. What about the cases of the terrorist, where our Intelligence agencies captured them while endangering the very life to protect the country and he himself let these terrorist loose and today we are facing bomb attacks every now and then.
SC should also step down from his seat, to let real Justice to Prevail.
Enough Hypocrisy !**
This was totally wrong and decision made by court. I must say Adlia is just showing their "badmashi" nothing else. Army should do something to support Musharraf. He is an honest man and he came to Pakistan without any fear. The nation like him and highly appreciate what ever he did in past. His actions were not wrong and always in the favor of Pakistan. I wish he take part in election and his party make alliance with Pakistan Tehrik e Insaaf (PTI) in future.
Arrest him if you can =)
run musharraf run and get that 50 rupees per liter petrol back for me please...
for everyone's information, Musharraf didn't run away from the court, he left the court. Police never tried to arrest him. Keep Calm!
Most tweets were not critical but were opposing it, please research properly
For God sack, please don't make it a laughing stocks for the world. He has been the Preseident of Pakistan for 8 years and served Pakistan better than the whole political lot. Please go thru the last 5 years of this coutry, how 18 miilion peoples of this country have to faced the circumtances.
Come out to save Musharaf!!!!!!!!!1
nobody can dare to touch Pervaiz Musharraf. & nothing is going to happen to him, its just a TOPI DRAMA
