The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) organised a workshop on Wednesday to impart training to secondary school teachers about mainstream knowledge of cultural heritage in curriculum.
The other objective of the workshop “Promotion of peace through cultural heritage” was to promote respect to diversity and pluralism in society.
Director Unesco Islamabad Dr Kozue Kay Nagata said that educating the youth about our diverse and common cultural heritage was the first step towards creating peace and social cohesion. The workshop, attended by 25 teachers from 10 schools of the ICT, was organised jointly by Unesco and the Ministry of CAD.
The workshop was part of the Unesco’s programme on “culture of peace” with the objective to build capacity of teachers to help students recognise the world heritage sites of Pakistan.
