Contingency plan: ‘Parties to inform prior to holding rallies’

Extra security will be provided to those parties that are under threat from militants.

A new security plan for the election campaign was chalked out during a high-level meeting at the Commissioner House on Wednesday.


Commissioner Sahibzada Mohammad Anees called a meeting which was attended by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Liaqat Ali, Deputy Commissioner Javed Marwat, assistant commissioners, political agents and additional assistant commissioners.

The agenda of the meeting was to review the previous security plan and devise a comprehensive strategy to avoid further attacks on political figures and rallies. It was decided specific locations will be allotted for public gathering and all parties would have to inform law enforcement agencies and city administration prior to holding any such events so that safety of participants can be ensured. Extra security would also be given to those parties that are under threat from militants.
