Hearing postponed: Records not produced on time

After the records could not be produced in court on Tuesday, the court postponed the hearing till Wednesday.

LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court postponed the hearing of a petition seeking the enforcement of Articles 62 and 63 during the scrutiny of candidates as relevant records were not produced. At the previous hearing,the court had sought records of defaulters from the Excise and Taxation Department, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited, the PTCL, electricity supply companies, and the WASA. The bench had directed the Cooperatives Department to ensure that officials from each department were present for the hearing. After the records could not be produced in court on Tuesday, the court postponed the hearing till Wednesday. The petitioner’s counsel Azhar Siddique had submitted that hundreds of candidates for the elections did not meet the conditions laid in the Constitution.
