
The funeral prayers for the deceased chairman will be offered in Faisalabad at 10am on Tuesday.
The 58-year-old was undergoing treatment for a liver condition at a local hospital in the city.
Karim, born on October 24, 1954 in Faisalabad, was elected MNA for his first term as a PML-N candidate. He was previously politically affiliated with Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP).
Karim called the Taliban terrorists, working to fulfill personal interests,“They are the same people who have no respect for mosques, mausoleums and teachings of holy saints. They have only spread terror and want to implement their ideology, which is terrorism.”
Kareem was part of SIC’s long march to introduce a legislation against blasphemy.
A businessman by profession, he completed an MA degree in Islamic Studies from Jamia Rizvia, Faisalabad, in 1987 and served as Member of Provincial Assembly Punjab from 1993-1997 and Minister of Punjab Province from 1997-1999.
He leaves behind four sons and a daughter.
