KARACHI: The Bomb Disposal Squad found on Friday a dud explosive device, which had been concealed in a plastic bag and placed outside a mosque in Soldier Bazaar, within the jurisdiction of the Nabi Bux police station.

The concealed bomb was spotted by a man outside Masjid Gulzar-e-Habib at 1:15pm, shortly before Jumma prayers.

He promptly informed law enforcers, after which the police and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) rushed to the spot and immediately evacuated people from the area.

Sabir Khan Durrani, who is in-charge of the BDS, told The Express Tribune that the net weight of the device was one kilogramme, half of which was explosive material. A timing device had also been attached to it.

“The bomb couldn’t explode because it had no detonator. It might just been used to cause panic,” he said.

Inspector General Sindh Police has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information which will lead law enforcers to the suspects.
