PESHAWAR:

A team probing target killings in the city submitted a sealed report to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday.

The report was submitted by SSP Investigation Masood Khalil during the hearing of a suo motu notice taken on increasing incidents of target killings – particularly of people from Shia families, including advocate Malik Jarrar Hussain.

The court was informed the case is being investigated, but complained of the refusal of victims’ families to extend support to the team.

DSP Saleem Riaz informed the bench the investigation report contained developments and evidence regarding the case, but was too sensitive to be shared in open court and thus requested for an in-camera briefing.

Additional Advocate General Naveed Akhtar said a sealed copy will be submitted to the court upon which the bench directed the PHC registrar to see the report and send it back to the investigation team in the same manner (sealed). The case was later adjourned till May 7.
