LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf launched the training of Tabdili Razakars (change volunteers) at a convention in EME Colony on Wednesday. “We plan to recruit a million volunteers who will be trained to motivate people to vote for the PTI during the general elections,” said PTI Punjab information secretary Andleeb Abbas. “Out of these, 40 per cent would be women,” she said. Abbas said each volunteer would be told to enlist at least 20 voters near his or her home. The names of these voters would be sent to PTI’s head office via text message to help them compile data of prospective voters. The party would thus be able to mobilise as many as 20 million voters across the country this way, said Abbas. Hundreds of women attended the convention on Wednesday in which they were shown videos and given instructions on how to carry out door-to-door campaigns, Abbas said.
