MULTAN:

A woman, who had apparently been raped, was found lying in a field in Khanewal on Wednesday.

She was taken to a hospital in Jhang, from where she was sent to the Kacha Khuh rural health centre for a medico-legal examination which confirmed gang rape.

A case has been registered against three suspects nominated by her family.

Kacha Khuh police said the 26-year-old teacher was kidnapped on her way to school on April 8. They said she was tortured and gang-raped before she was thrown in the field near her home.

Some neighbours saw her and informed the police.

She told police that three men had pushed her into a car and taken her to Shorkot in Jhang district. She said five men had raped her over two days. When her condition deteriorated, she said, they threw her in the field and fled.

Doctors at the rural health centre said that she might need a surgery.

Dr Rubina Awan conducted the medico-legal examination.

Residents of the area have condemned the incident and have demanded that the rapists be publicly hanged. Auqaf Committee Chairman Chaudhry Jafar Hussain has demanded that the rapists be stoned to death.

Station House Officer Zulfiqar Ahmed told The Express Tribune that the police were looking for the suspects.

What the noble profession she was doing and what the reward the people are giving. She was educating the children of the area where she were meted out the harsh treatment. O my God, what we are looking in the country....... God's mill grinds slow but sure.
