KARACHI: The Pakistan U14 tennis team, whose hopes of qualifying for the World Junior Tennis Championship had already been dashed, failed to register a consolation win as they lost their last Group A match of the Asia-Oceania Zone against Vietnam 3-0.

Abdal Haider was beaten by Quang Nguyen 6-1, 6-1 in just over an hour, while Nofil Kaleem was defeated by Tien Nguyen 6-1, 6-0 in 42 minutes.

However, Haider and Kaleem gave their opponents a tough time in the doubles match only to lose 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

The team was required to win at least two matches in Group A of the Asia-Oceania Zone to progress to the quarter-finals of the qualifiers from their pool which also featured Hong Kong and Vietnam.
